Portland Shooting: DHS identifies passenger shot by federal agents as Venezuelan linked to prostitution ring, mayor calls for investigation
Portland witnessed a shooting involving federal agents, injuring two people. This incident follows a fatal shooting by an ICE agent in Minneapolis. Local leaders, including the Portland Mayor and Oregon Governor, are demanding a full investigation...

What happened?
According to Katu2Abc website, The Department of Homeland Security said the shooting occurred around 2:19 pm near Southeast Main Street when a vehicle’s driver allegedly tried to run over federal agents.
An agent fired in self-defense, with DHS identifying the passenger as a Venezuelan linked to the Tren de Aragua prostitution ring. The two wounded were later found 2.5 miles away near Northeast 146th Avenue and East Burnside and taken to the hospital. Their identities have not been released.
“We understand the heightened emotion and tension many are feeling in the wake of the shooting in Minneapolis, but I am asking the community to remain calm as we work to learn more,” Portland police chief Bob Day said
The investigation into the shooting is being led by the FBI, authorities said. Federal officials confirmed the agents involved were from US Customs and Border Protection.
Portland Mayor’s response
Portland Mayor Keith Wilson has called on Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to immediately halt all operations in the city following a shooting involving federal agents, saying enforcement activity should pause until a full investigation is completed.
Speaking at a press conference, Wilson questioned the federal government’s account of events and said public trust has eroded. “We know what the federal government says happened here,” he said. “There was a time when we could take them at their word. That time is long past.”
The mayor’s remarks came as scrutiny intensified in the aftermath of the shooting, which has further strained relations between local leaders and federal authorities.
Oregon Governor demands complete inquiry
“The attorney general and other leaders have been clear about our concerns with the excessive use of force by federal agents in Portland, and today’s incident only heightens the need for transparency and accountability,” she said. “Oregonians deserve clear answers.”
Follows fatal ICE shooting in Minnesota
The shooting in Portland comes a day after a fatal incident in Minnesota, where an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent shot and killed Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old. The Minnesota shooting sparked widespread outrage and protests, intensifying scrutiny of federal law enforcement nationwide.
