Plane makes emergency landing on Interstate 95, crashes into a car in Brevard County - Check out the reason behind dramatic crash

A small plane crashed into the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 in Brevard County on Monday evening, disrupting rush-hour traffic, reported FOX 35 Orlando. Officials said the aircraft struck at least one vehicle, sending a driver to the hospital. The incident occurred around 5:45 PM near mile marker 201 in Cocoa, Florida. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the plane - a fixed-wing, multi-engine Beechcraft 55 - was attempting an emergency landing on the highway when it collided with a 2023 Toyota Camry. The pilot and his passenger, both 27, were unharmed.


The impact scattered debris across the roadway and left the sedan badly crushed near the median barrier, reported Daily Mail. The crash triggered heavy traffic delays in both directions as emergency crews responded and worked to remove the wreckage during evening rush hour traffic. The interstate reopened shortly before 9 PM.



According to Daily Mail, the Camry’s driver, a 57-year-old woman, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Viera Hospital. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said it will investigate the crash. The FAA also said the pilot reported engine issues before landing on I-95.

The crash marked the second aviation emergency in Central Florida on Monday. Just a few hours earlier, another small plane executed an unexpected landing on a roadway in DeLand, near DeLand High School. In that incident, which occurred around 2 PM, both people on board were injured and taken to the hospital, officials said, as reported by Daily Mail.
