Career that spanned TV and film

Muldoon began acting while still in college, appearing in a two-episode arc on the sitcom Who’s the Boss? Soon after graduating in 1991, he secured a three-episode recurring role on Saved by the Bell.

He first gained major recognition as Austin Reed on the long-running daytime soap ‘Days of Our Lives’ (1992–1995; 2011–2012), a role that made him a household name for soap fans across the United States.

He transitioned to primetime television with a memorable run as Richard Hart on Fox’s ‘Melrose Place’ during the mid-1990s.

On the big screen, he appeared as Zander Barcalow in the 1997 cult science-fiction film ‘Starship Troopers’, further broadening his appeal to genre audiences.

His final film, crime thriller ‘Dirty Hands’, is set for release later this year.

In addition to acting, Muldoon was active behind the camera as a producer, contributing to several films in recent years and at mid-career.

Patrick Muldoon was born William Patrick Muldoon III on September 27, 1968, in San Pedro, California. He graduated from the University of Southern California where he played collegiate football before transitioning full-time to acting after graduation.

Muldoon is survived by his partner, Miriam Rothbart; his parents, Deanna and Patrick Muldoon Sr.; his sister Shana Zappa and brother-in-law Ahmet Zappa; and his niece and nephew.
