An FBI official clarified that widely reported DNA evidence from Nancy Guthrie's home. Previous DNA samples yielded no matches or were mixed. The 84-year-old mother of Savannah Guthrie was reported missing in February 2026, with her disappearance ...

On April 16, 2026, ABC News posted on X that the federal probe agency “received and is now analyzing potentially critical DNA recovered from the Tucson, Arizona, home of Nancy Guthrie," sources familiar with the investigation told the news outlet.
Responding to the post, Ben Williamson, Assistant Director for Public Affairs at the FBI, said, "Still receiving inquiries on this: this is not new evidence or information. FBI asked to test this DNA 2 months ago with the same technology we’ve always had - when the local Sheriff instead sent it to a private lab. Any further developments we will share as soon as appropriate.”
Previous DNA samples either did not produce a match in the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS), the FBI’s database of criminal offenders, or were found to be “mixed” with another individual’s DNA.
It has been more than two and a half months since the investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie was launched, but no suspects have been identified so far, and the search remains ongoing.
