Savannah returned to Today in April after taking a two-month break to be with her family during the investigation into the disappearance of her mother. Nancy, 84, vanished from her Arizona residence on February 1 under what authorities described as suspicious circumstances. Investigators believe she may have been abducted after reviewing security footage that showed a masked person approaching the property shortly before she disappeared. The individual was also seen striking the home’s surveillance camera, apparently attempting to disable it before leaving the scene. Nancy, the mother of Savannah as well as Annie Guthrie and Camron Guthrie, was last seen by relatives at her home in Tucson, Arizona, around 9:30 PM on January 31, according to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
As the investigation continues, Savannah and her family remain hopeful that fresh clues could finally provide answers, with journalist Brian Entin reportedly uncovering possible new evidence in his CW special, 'NewsNation Presents: The Nancy Guthrie Mystery'.
"The latest real development is we confirmed that there was a rootless hair that has been sent to the FBI lab in Quantico for testing, which could be significant if they can figure out if there's any DNA on the hair that could trace back to a possible suspect," Brian told 'Extra'.
Brian assembled a panel of experts to examine the case, including Ann Burgess along with forensic and clinical psychologist Gary Brucato and criminologist and behavioral analyst Casey Jordan, all of whom shared their insights on the investigation.
The experts also suggested that the masked individual captured on surveillance footage outside her home could have later been silenced or killed by the person allegedly behind the crime.
