Nancy Guthrie Abduction Case
Nancy Guthrie Abduction Case: Explosive updates have surfaced in the Nancy Guthrie disappearance case. The 84-year-old mother of NBC's "Today" show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie was last seen by family members on January 31, 2026, after spending the evening at the Tucson home of her older daughter, Annie Guthrie, and son-in-law. She was reported missing by her relatives on February 1, 2026.

Now as the investigation in the case continues two months after Nancy’s disappearance, a couple of new notes have surfaced, both from the same person, offering information on the kidnapper.

Earlier in February 2026, KOLD-TV had stated that it received an email that appeared to be a ransom note. It included a demand for money with a deadline set for 5 p.m. Thursday and a second one for Monday, AP reported citing investigators. Notably, these new notes mark the first time they have disclosed a specific location and claimed to have seen her in Mexico.

TMZ received the first new note on Monday morning. The development comes as Savannah Guthrie made her return to the "TODAY" show for the first time since her mother went missing.

The new notes are reportedly from the same individual who has been offering, for nearly two months, to provide key information and potentially expose the kidnappers. In the notes, they say their demand for 1 bitcoin to "deliver them on a silver platter" remains.

Shortly after the first note, "the person sent a second letter saying..." I saw her alive with them in the state of Sonora, Mexico," as quoted by TMZ. Sonora is a large Mexican state that borders Arizona and parts of New Mexico. Nancy was abducted from her home in Tucson, located roughly 70 miles from the border, on February 1, 2026.

Is Nancy Guthrie alive?

In the new notes, the sender has not suggested that Nancy is still alive. In the first note, they say, "She is dead." TMZ sent the first note to the FBI, but feds have doubts about its legitimacy. Notably, there's been no deposit into the related bitcoin address, the same account they created back in February.

The person has said that they will give up the info for half a bitcoin, and then when there is a public arrest, the other half gets transferred to their bitcoin wallet.

They have also distanced themselves from Nancy's kidnapping, claiming they've been out of the U.S. for more than five years and had nothing to do with the "horrific crime."
