Despite the buzz surrounding the soaring jackpot, lottery officials continue to remind players that the odds of winning the Mega Millions grand prize are extremely slim - about 1 in 290 million. The jackpot was last claimed on December 2, when a player in New Jersey won $90 million.
Mega Millions tickets are available in 45 states, as well as Washington, DC, and the US Virgin Islands. The game is not offered in Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah.
