“MSL is hiring in Singapore! We already have some amazing researchers and engineers there, buoyed now by the 100-strong Manus team, and we’re growing fast,” Wang said in a post on X. Wang also encouraged people interested in these roles to apply directly. “Feel free to DM with a resumé if interested!” he added.
Meta’s job cut of 600 employees
The hiring announcement follows reports from November 22, when multiple news outlets said Meta planned to lay off approximately 600 employees from its artificial intelligence unit. According to The Wall Street Journal, which cited an internal memo, the decision was aimed at streamlining operations. “By reducing the size of our team, fewer conversations will be required to make a decision, and each person will be more load-bearing and have more scope and impact,” Wang wrote in the memo.
That job cuts were expected to affect teams working on AI products, infrastructure, and long-term research. However, the memo clarified that the layoffs would not impact TBD Lab, the unit housing many of Zuckerberg’s recent multimillion-dollar AI hires. Wang also stated at that time that there would be no changes to the broader structure of Meta Superintelligence Labs, which was formed over the summer as part of Meta’s broader push to overhaul its AI strategy. Despite the layoffs, the company plans to continue hiring.
