Lexus’s ‘Driving Lounge’ concept for electric SUV market
Built on Lexus’ TNGA platform, the new TZ is designed around what the company calls its “Driving Lounge” concept, combining a quiet and spacious cabin with dynamic driving performance.
The SUV comes standard with DIRECT4 all-wheel drive across all grades and offers two lithium-ion battery options: 76.96 kWh and 95.82 kWh.
Lexus says the vehicle was engineered to balance “lounge-like comfort with Lexus’ signature driving enjoyment,” while also delivering improved body rigidity, aerodynamic efficiency, and smoother handling.
Cabin with panoramic roof and power ottomans
Inside, the three-row cabin focuses heavily on passenger comfort and quietness. The TZ features second-row captain’s chairs, a panoramic roof with a power sunshade extending across all three rows, and available ventilated seats with power ottomans for front and second-row passengers.
Lexus also highlighted sustainable craftsmanship elements, including Forged Bamboo interior surfaces sourced from Japan’s Shikoku Island and bio-based UltraSuede materials.
The automaker claims the TZ delivers the “quietest cabin among Lexus SUVs" because of extensive sound insulation and aerodynamic refinements.
The vehicle also introduces a Lexus-first 2-in-1 charging port design combining AC and DC charging access. The US model will feature the North American Charging Standard (NACS) charging port.
Additional EV-focused features include battery preconditioning, EV routing, range mapping, regenerative braking adjustment, and external power supply capabilities.
