Kendra Duggar arrested: What we know about charges against Joseph Duggar’s wife after his arrest in a child molestation case

Reality TV personality Kendra Duggar, wife of Joseph Duggar, is now facing criminal charges alongside her husband after Arkansas authorities announced additional counts in an ongoing investigation. According to Page Six, Kendra Duggar was arrested and is currently in police custody as of Friday, March 20, citing records from the Washington County Jail. Joseph Duggar, 31, is being held at the Washington County Detention Center in connection with a separate case out of Florida, as per local outlet KARK.

In a press release issued Friday, March 20, the Tontitown Police Department confirmed that both Joseph Duggar and Kendra Duggar are facing, ‘Four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor in the second degree’ and ‘Four counts of false imprisonment in the second degree.'

Authorities said arrest warrants tied to the misdemeanor offenses have been issued and served through District Court. The department added that the investigation remains “active and ongoing,” noting that Arkansas law restricts the release of details in cases involving minors.

Arkansas case ‘unrelated’ to Joseph Duggar’s Florida investigation

While the latest charges against Kendra Duggar have drawn widespread attention, police have clarified that the Arkansas case is separate from Joseph Duggar’s legal troubles in Florida.

According to Page Six, an Arkansas local confirmed the charges are “unrelated” to the Florida case. However, the investigation in Arkansas began following the alleged incident in Florida, as per the Tontitown Police Department, the outlet noted.

Florida case: Allegations dating back to 2020

The Arkansas filings on Kendra Duggar come after police began investigating her husband for molesting a minor, dating back to 2020. The investigation began on Wednesday, March 18.

Joseph Duggar is already facing serious charges in the Florida case, including, ‘lewd and lascivious molestation of a victim less than 12 years old’ and ‘lewd and lascivious behavior conducted by a person 18 years or older.' The charges were filed by the Bay County Sheriff’s Office after authorities learned of an alleged incident 6 years back.

According to investigators in the Florida case, Duggar is accused of molesting a 9-year-old girl while vacationing with her family in Panama City Beach. The girl alleged that Duggar engaged in “unlawful sexual activity” after asking her to sit on his lap and later next to him under a blanket, where he allegedly touched her inappropriately.
