Joni Lamb, Founder of one of world’s largest Christian TV networks
Joni Lamb, the co-founder and longstanding president of the Daystar Television Network, one of the world’s largest Christian broadcasting ministries, has died at the age of 65. Her passing was confirmed by the network on May 7, 2026, following a period of declining health complicated by a recent back injury that worsened existing medical issues she had been managing privately.

Born Joni Trammell in 1960, Lamb began her life in ministry alongside her husband, televangelist Marcus Lamb. The couple first entered the world of Christian television broadcasting in the mid-1980s by purchasing a full-power station in Montgomery, Alabama, where they broadcast Bible teaching and faith-based programming.

In 1993, they co-founded the Daystar Television Network, initially focused on expanding their ministry into cable and satellite platforms. Over the next three decades, Daystar grew into a global Christian network, distributing faith-based content across cable, satellite, streaming services and digital platforms, reaching millions of homes worldwide and billions of potential viewers through international distribution.

Lamb was known not only as an executive producer and president but also as an on-air personality who hosted and appeared on numerous programs. Her role helped shape Daystar into a leading platform for evangelical teaching and worship programming.

Joni Lamb: Cause of death

In an official announcement, Daystar Television Network said Lamb had been facing serious health challenges that she chose to keep private. Her condition deteriorated after she suffered a back injury that compounded those existing issues, leading to a medical situation that escalated rapidly in the days before her death. The network did not disclose a specific medical cause beyond citing complications tied to the injury and related health struggles.

Personal life and survivors

Lamb was married to Marcus Lamb until his death from complications of COVID-19 in November 2021, an event that prompted widespread attention due to the network’s stance on pandemic issues at the time.

In 2023, she remarried Dr. Doug Weiss, a psychologist and frequent Daystar guest, who shared in her ministry in later years. Lamb is survived by her husband Weiss and her three children, Jonathan, Rachel and Rebecca.
