Users of X (formerly Twitter) experienced a major disruption on March 26, as many reported being unable to access key features of the platform. A sharp spike in complaints was recorded by Downdetector, suggesting a sudden and widespread service issue. According to outage detection site Downdetector, the complaints surged past 30,000 around 2:15 AM ET, pointing to a rapid and widespread service interruption in the United States.


So far, X has not released any official statement addressing the issue. The exact cause of the outage is still unknown, and it is unclear whether the disruption was related to backend systems or broader infrastructure problems.


The outage appeared to impact both the mobile app and the desktop site, with users from different parts of the world flagging similar problems. A large number of people said their feeds were either not loading at all or showing blank screens, making it impossible to view posts or updates.

In addition to feed issues, several users struggled to log into their accounts or faced interruptions while trying to interact with content. Some reported that their posts failed to publish, while others noticed that content disappeared shortly after being posted.

Data from Downdetector pointed to disruptions across multiple core functions, including timeline loading, login systems, server connectivity, and overall site performance. User reactions further highlighted the extent of the problem, with many pointing out missing posts and inconsistent behavior across the platform.
