Influencer Sara Gilson was ‘screaming and crying’ before husband Jeremiah 'Shawn' Duffey killed her; 911 dispatch audio reveals shocking details

Chilling details have emerged in the death of influencer Sara Gilson, who was shot and killed by her estranged husband, Jeremiah “Shawn” Duffey. A 911 dispatcher heard Gilson “screaming and crying” before police discovered the bodies of both Gilson and Duffey at her home in Oklahoma. According to the dispatch audio obtained by PEOPLE, emergency dispatchers were discussing a service call to Gilson’s home in Owasso at 11:15 p.m. local time on Thursday, July 23.

“I’m trying to reach him back, but I could hear a female in the background screaming and crying. Some sort of loud bang in the background,” a 911 dispatcher was heard telling first responders on the audio recording, as quoted by the news outlet, referring to the caller who reported the eventual murder-suicide.

A dispatcher soon noted a “male that we were looking for a few weeks ago after he got caught kissing a juvenile” and also mentioned “a gun.” By 11:18 p.m., authorities confirmed to dispatchers that they had reached the home.


Inside, Gilson, 43, and Duffey, 48, were discovered dead from gunshot wounds after a child living in the home placed the 911 call. Investigators determined that Gilson was shot by Duffey, who then fatally shot himself. The victims were later identified by a family member, according to authorities, KTUL reported.

In a TikTok post shared less than two weeks before her death, Gilson referred to her soon-to-be ex-husband as a “pedophile.” Referencing a viral TikTok trend in which users pretend they are being interviewed by Netflix for a documentary, Gilson wrote, “Preparing for when Netflix drops a documentary about my soon to be ex husband who I just found out is a pedophile,” alongside the video. “I wish I was joking,” she captioned the social media post.

Court records show that Gilson had previously filed emergency protective orders against Duffey, including two in 2021 that were later dismissed when she did not appear at the hearings, according to The Oklahoman. On June 10, she filed another emergency protective order alleging that Duffey had a gun, threatened suicide, and “went on the run,” according to The Oklahoman.

Following that filing, Duffey was immediately ordered out of their home and directed to stay at least 100 yards away from Gilson, as confirmed by court records viewed by PEOPLE.
