Donald Trump has sparked widespread backlash after sharing an AI-generated image on Truth Social that appeared to depict himself as Jesus. The controversial post quickly drew criticism online, with some users calling it inappropriate and offensive, while others questioned its intent. Candace Owens claimed he was "under demonic influence" on her podcast, further fueling the debate. Trump later deleted the image and addressed the situation, saying, "It was me as a doctor," in an apparent attempt to clarify the post. The incident once again highlights how his social media activity continues to generate strong reactions and public scrutiny.

Trump on Sunday (April 12) strongly criticized Pope Leo XIV following the US-born pontiff’s remarks on Washington’s war in Iran. The criticism came shortly before Trump shared an AI-generated image of himself depicting a miracle in imagery reminiscent of Jesus, which further stirred controversy. The pope, described as the first US-born leader of the Catholic Church from Chicago, had raised concerns about the conflict and cautioned against what he saw as increasingly aggressive rhetoric from Trump. Responding on Truth Social, Trump defended his actions, stating that he does not "want a Pope who criticizes the President of the United States," adding that he is carrying out exactly what he was elected to do "in a landslide."

Soon after criticizing the Pope, Trump shared a digitally created image portraying himself in a healing role. The image showed Trump dressed in flowing robes, placing his hand on a sick man in a scene reminiscent of religious symbolism. It also featured patriotic and dramatic elements, including the American flag, military aircraft overhead, and angelic-looking figures in the background, adding to the striking and controversial nature of the post.

Speaking to reporters several hours after removing the image, as reported by CBS, US President said he believed the image depicted him as a doctor next to a Red Cross worker.

"It's supposed to be as a doctor making people better," he said. "And I do make people better. I make people a lot better."

Reacting to the post, Candace said on her podcast, " "He is truly under demonic influence, adding, "I think Paula White put a 'SPELL' on Trump."

LA-based comedian, actor, and Air Force veteran Vincent Oshana backed Candace's claim, stating, "What's happening with Trump is unlike him, he has an EVIL FORCE around him."

Riley Gaines, host of The Riley Gaines Show on Fox News, reacted on X, writing: "Why? Seriously, I can’t understand why he would post this. Is he trying to provoke a reaction, or does he actually believe it?"

"Either way, two things are true," she wrote. "1) a little humility would serve him well 2) God shall not be mocked."

Former GOP Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene also commented on X that she was 'praying against' the post.

"On Orthodox Easter, President Trump attacked the Pope because the Pope is rightly against Trump’s war in Iran and then he posted this picture of himself as if he is replacing Jesus," she wrote. "This comes after last week’s post of his evil tirade on Easter and then threatening to kill an entire civilization. I completely denounce this and I’m praying against it!!!"
