Ghost Shark to Hoatzin Bird: 5 mind-blowing Animals existing on Earth you have to see to believe

Nature has its own unique ways of blowing our minds and keeping wildlife scientists intrigued with its creations. From ocean giants to whales and lizards and deer, these creatures never fail to amaze us. There are also some species of animals that are required to be seen to be believed.

Muntjac deer

Known as a “barking deer,” M untjacs are a small stocky type of deer, widespread in British woodlands. According to BBC Wildlife Magazine, they are at times overlooked because, being just 50cm high. Muntjacs probably have the size of a medium-sized dog and they are hidden by tall vegetation for a major part of the summer. According to BBC Wildlife Magazine, adult male weigh between 10 to 18kg , while adult females weigh between 9 -16kg.


Hoatzin

The hoatzin is known as a "stinkbird” and is often regarded as one of the strangest birds in the world. It is born with clawed wings. According to Live Science, adults give off a strong, unpleasant smell because of their cow-like, fermenting digestive system. Hoatzin have a few weird traits, with mohican crests, blue facial skin, red eyes and large, fan-shaped tails, which they use to maintain balance while navigating dense vegetation, according to Live Science.

Giant siphonophores

Giant siphonophores are deep-sea invertebrates comprised of a collection of highly specialized working parts. According to Monterey Bay Aquarium, different sections responsible for catching prey, digesting food, reproducing, and directing movement by swimming.

This siphonophore is bioluminescent and creates its own light. Found in the deep sea at midwater depths of about 2,297 to 3,281 feet (700 to 1,000 meters). Despite reaching lengths of up to 130 feet (40 meters), its body is only about as thick as a broomstick.

Ghost Shark

Also known as Chimeras, the Ghost sharks are not actually sharks. It is a unique fish species nearest to sharks and rays. According to an organization called Shark Angels, they were recently discovered in 2002.

Being deep dwelling creatures,Ghost sharks live about 8,500 ft/2,600 m deep. They have large eyes and long snouts giving them a distinct look. Having a size of 2 ft/0.6 m, Chimeras carry stitch-like lines that run along their head and body, according to Shark Angels.

Uakari

Uakari monkeys are found in South America’s Amazon Forest. They have shaggy fur, humanlike ears, and distinctive bald faces, according to Britannica. They have a bright red face and they are about 35–50 cm (14–20 inches) long. This length excludes their strangely short 15–20-cm nonprehensile, or nongrasping, tails. According to Britannica the monkeys live in troupes of about 15 individuals and are active during the day feeding mainly on fruit.
