Gas Prices Today May 26
The latest data from the American Automobile Association (AAA) shows the US national average price for regular gasoline at $4.491 per gallon as of May 26, 2026. After reaching elevated levels during the Memorial Day travel period, fuel prices remain near multi-year seasonal highs, although the national average has edged slightly lower compared to the previous week.

AAA recently noted that Memorial Day weekend gasoline prices climbed to their highest levels in four years, reflecting strong seasonal demand, tighter fuel inventories in some regions and continued pressure in crude oil and refining markets.

Regional differences remain significant across the country. West Coast states and non-contiguous markets continue to report the highest fuel prices nationwide, while much of the South and Midwest remains comparatively cheaper for drivers.
