The gas and fuel data across the five most populous states, a clear pattern emerges: fuel prices are consistently highest in California, where all categories of gasoline and diesel stand well above the national averages.

In contrast, Texas shows the lowest prices among the group, underscoring its proximity to refining capacity and lower distribution costs. Florida sits in the middle range, while New York and Pennsylvania trend higher, particularly for premium and diesel, aligning with the Northeast’s historically elevated fuel costs.
