GAS Prices Today March 30, 2026: Rising crude oil prices continue to push fuel costs higher across the United States, putting added pressure on commuters as the spring season, which began on March 20, 2026, gets underway. According to the AAA Fuel Prices website, drivers are increasingly feeling the impact at the pump.

The upward trend in crude oil has translated directly into higher retail gasoline prices. On Monday, March 30, 2026, the national average price for a gallon of regular petrol edged up to $3.990, compared to $3.980 on Sunday, March 29, reflecting a steady climb.

At the same time, fuel prices vary widely across the country’s most populous states, highlighting significant regional differences. From the West Coast to the South and the Northeast, motorists are experiencing a broad range of prices, with some areas facing notably higher costs than others. This growing disparity underscores how location continues to influence everyday fuel expenses, even amid broader market trends.

In an effort to stabilize the market, the White House announced in March 2026 that it would release 172 million barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve over a four-month period. However, the move has yet to deliver immediate relief, as crude oil prices remain elevated and continue to drive fuel costs upward.

Here are the gas price averages (per gallon) for the top 5 US states by population (Monday, March 30, 2026):
