The steady increase in crude oil prices is pushing retail fuel costs higher. However, on Friday (March 27, 2026), the national average price for a gallon of regular petrol saw a slight dip and stood at $3.978, according to AAA. On Friday (March 26, 2026), the national average price for a gallon of regular petrol was $3.981.
Earlier in March 2026, the White House made an announcement about the release of 172 million barrels of oil from its strategic reserves over four months. The move, however, has no immediate relief on the oil market as the price of a barrel of crude continues to remain high.
