The figure represents a notable decline from recent levels and comes amid a broader nationwide easing in fuel costs. AAA's latest fuel report notes that the national gas average has fallen by nearly 20 cents in just one week, providing welcome relief for motorists heading into the peak summer travel season.

While the national average continues to move lower, fuel prices remain highly regionalized. States on the West Coast continue to post some of the highest prices in the country, while several Southern and Midwestern states remain significantly below the national average.

According to AAA data, regular gasoline averages $5.902 per gallon statewide. Drivers purchasing mid-grade fuel are paying an average of $6.133 per gallon, while premium gasoline costs $6.317 per gallon.


Diesel prices remain exceptionally high at $7.199 per gallon, the highest statewide diesel average reported in the nation.

AAA reports regular gasoline averaging $3.646 per gallon, making it more than 52 cents below the national average.

Mid-grade gasoline stands at $4.116 per gallon, while premium fuel averages $4.486 per gallon. Diesel prices currently average $4.736 per gallon statewide.

Regular gasoline currently averages $3.804 per gallon statewide. AAA data shows mid-grade gasoline at $4.247 per gallon, premium fuel at $4.594 per gallon, and diesel prices averaging $4.932 per gallon.

Several states are clustered near the national average, including Colorado ($4.175), West Virginia ($4.173), Michigan ($4.165), New Mexico ($4.064), and Ohio ($4.062), reflecting the broader national decline in fuel costs.
