GAS Prices Today April 6, 2026: Fuel prices across the United States are ticking upward, closely tracking a surge in global crude oil costs fueled by geopolitical tensions linked to the ongoing Iran conflict. These disruptions are straining supply chains and keeping energy markets on edge. With spring having officially started on March 20, drivers are already noticing higher costs at the pump, according to AAA data, and experts warn that relief may not come quickly.

As crude prices climb, retail gasoline rates are following suit. On April 6, 2026, the national average for a gallon of regular gas reached $4.119, a slight increase from $4.110 the previous day. While the rise appears modest, it reflects a consistent upward trend that is gradually putting pressure on household budgets.

Price differences across regions remain significant. West Coast states, especially California, continue to see some of the highest fuel prices in the country. Meanwhile, states like Texas offer comparatively lower rates, underscoring the wide gap nationwide. Other states, including Florida, New York, and Pennsylvania, fall in between, shaped by varying taxes, supply logistics, and refining capacity.

Here are the gas price averages (per gallon) for the top 5 US states by population (Monday, April 6, 2026):
