Pepperoni Rolls recalled in 2 US states over undeclared milk allergen and potential food-borne illness risk
Ohio's Fry Pie Factory has initiated a voluntary recall of its 5-ounce Pepperoni Rolls due to undeclared milk and potential improper refrigeration. This poses a risk of allergic reactions for those with milk sensitivities and a threat of food-born...

The recall was announced by the company on June 12 and published by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on June 18. The affected Pepperoni Rolls were distributed throughout Ohio and parts of West Virginia and sold in convenience stores, grocery stores, and gas stations.
According to the company, the product was misbranded because milk, a known allergen, was not declared on the label. In addition, the Pepperoni Rolls were not stored, distributed, or sold at appropriate temperatures, a process deviation that could “allow pathogenic growth and pose a risk of food-borne illness.”
While no illnesses have been reported, the company warned that people with a milk allergy or severe sensitivity to milk could face a serious or potentially life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product. The refrigeration issue also increases the risk of food-borne illness.
Consumers who purchased the recalled Pepperoni Rolls are being advised not to eat them. Instead, they should either discard the product or return it to Fry Pie Factory for a full refund. The recalled product is, Fry Pie Factory Pepperoni Rolls, Package size: 5 ounces
Fry Pie Factory said it is taking the action as a precautionary measure to protect consumers. It also urged anyone experiencing symptoms of an allergic reaction or food-borne illness after consuming the product to seek medical attention immediately.
Consumers with questions about the recall can contact Mark Thompson at 405-990-4657. The FDA noted that no illnesses linked to the recalled Pepperoni Rolls have been reported so far.
