Florida Shocking Crime: Parents arrested and charged for Manslaughter following fatal head trauma of 7-week-old daughter

US Marshals arrested a man and woman in Jacksonville on August 7, 2026 (Friday) who were wanted in Broward County for the October 2025 killing of their 7‑week‑old daughter, according to a U.S. Marshals Service release. Robert Lee Ingram Jr. and Gracie Jai Tellez were charged July 27, 2026 in Broward County with aggravated manslaughter of a child and child neglect following a Hollywood Police Department investigation.

The case began on October 14, 2025, when Tellez called 911 reporting her infant was cold, pale, and unresponsive. Hollywood police officers and paramedics performed CPR before transporting the child to Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. Both parents told investigators the baby had been acting normally, had been fed, and was placed in her bassinet for a nap shortly before being found unresponsive, the release stated.

Detectives spoke to the parents, carried out a search of the residence, and documented the scene. Medical staff reported the infant was in critical condition with signs of possible internal bleeding. Four days later, on October 18, 2025, the child was declared brain dead and later died after organ donation procedures failed.


The Broward County Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide caused by complications of blunt head trauma. Homicide investigators concluded Ingram and Tellez were directly responsible, leading to arrest warrants July 27, according to the Marshals Service.

Ingram and Tellez gave false statements about using FaceTime on their phones to monitor the baby when they were instead playing video games and watching YouTube videos, CBS News and NBC6 reported, citing the arrest warrant, issued on July 27, 2026. Police described their actions as “an attempt to conceal the true circumstances” surrounding their daughter’s death.

On July 29, the Florida Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force (FCRFTF) in Fort Lauderdale adopted the fugitive investigation. After developing information that the pair had relocated to Jacksonville, a collateral lead was sent to FCRFTF – Jacksonville.

The Jacksonville team located Ingram and Tellez at a residence in the 1300 block of Marsh Grass Court. Both were arrested without incident and transported to the Duval County Jail, where they were processed and booked, the release said.
