Nancy Guthrie disappearance case big update
Nancy Guthrie Case Update: The investigation into the Nancy Guthrie case is entering its 11th week, with authorities yet to make an arrest. However, they have continued their search efforts in a bid to move closer to a major breakthrough in identifying the kidnapper.

Nancy, the 84-year-old mother of NBC’s ‘Today’ show host Savannah Guthrie, went missing on January 31, 2026, and was reported missing on February 1, 2026. A major update in Nancy’s alleged abduction is that the FBI has received DNA evidence recovered from her Tucson, Arizona, home, including test results from a hair sample, Fox News reported, citing sources.

Investigators had collected DNA, including hair, from Nancy’s home and shared it with the federal agency. It was expected to undergo more extensive testing, FOX reported, citing a source with knowledge of the investigation. Notably, despite the DNA evidence, there was no breakthrough in identifying a suspect at the time of filing of this report.

CeCe Moore, a leading investigative genetic genealogist at Parabon Nanolabs, said a hair sample was unlikely to be included in the mixed DNA sample that had challenged investigators. "Not after it is cleaned for contamination," she said. "They have that process in good shape, but it can take some time."

Multiple labs across the country are reportedly involved, with about two dozen investigators still working to piece the case together. Yet, despite the early release of evidence, including doorbell camera footage, there has been no major breakthrough.

According to the Pima County Sheriff's Department (PCSD) spokesperson, the department has been "sharing a lot of things" with the FBI lab since the beginning of the Guthrie investigation.

"PCSD has worked with the FBI since the beginning of the Guthrie investigation. This is not new information," the department wrote on X. "The private lab we utilize in Florida continues to share information with the FBI lab & other partner labs across the country. DNA analysis remains ongoing."

It has been more than 11 weeks since Nancy Guthrie disappeared from her Tucson home in Arizona but still authorities have no clue pertaining to answers that sample may be able to provide.

Given the time taken, experts believe the sample is a complex mixture containing DNA from three or more individuals. "I would assume it would be Nancy plus two or more unknowns," said Moore.

In February 2026, officials revealed that DNA testing determined that blood found on the home’s front porch was Nancy’s. At the time, the probe agency had also recover doorbell camera video of what it described as an armed person tampering with a camera at Nancy’s front door.

Video showed the person wearing a backpack and balaclava who tries to cover a camera near the front door with their gloved hand before ripping out a plant from the yard to block the camera’s view.

The lab tested a suspicious glove found about two miles from her home. Authorities claimed that it appeared similar to those worn by a masked suspect on Nancy’s Nest doorbell camera. The glove yielded no answers, failing to match any known offenders in the FBI’s CODIS database or any other samples recovered from the home.
