Is Eid a public holiday in US
While Eid al-Fitr is widely celebrated, it is not a federal public holiday in the United States, meaning businesses continue to operate under normal hours. However, workplaces and educational institutions increasingly accommodate requests for leave, as Muslim employees and students take time off to attend morning prayers and family gatherings.
The day typically begins with special congregational prayers and sermons, followed by community celebrations at mosques, parks, or rented venues. Food, gifts for children, and social gatherings remain central to the festivities, which can extend over three days.
