eBay outage: Frustrated users turn to Instagram after Facebook and X support shutdown; ‘Your site was down all day on Sunday’
eBay experienced a significant outage on Sunday, April 26, leaving users unable to access the platform. With Facebook and X support already discontinued, frustrated customers flooded eBay's Instagram comments seeking urgent assistance. The cause o...

According to Downdetector, the platform, where users buy and sell new or used items through auctions or “Buy It Now” fixed-price listings, began seeing a sharp spike in issues around 3:30 PM ET, with reports continuing to rise for hours.
As of 10:30 PM ET, the outage tracking website showed a little over 1,300 outage reports and by 11:50 PM, the number, however, came down to around 600.
eBay shut down Facebook and X support
On March 10, ValueAddedResource reported that eBay had “completely deactivated the @askeBay account on X.”
A day later, the outlet reported that eBay had officially shut down active support through Facebook and X. Sellers trying to tag those pages were instead receiving automated messages directing them to standard eBay help pages and contact channels.
Users flood Instagram comments during outage
While eBay has not officially confirmed the status of support through Instagram, one seller in the community forum said they contacted representatives there and were told the platform was not shutting down.

ValueAddedResource reported that sellers may still be able to access support through @eBay on Instagram, and that is where many users appeared to turn after Sunday’s outage.
Under the company’s most recent post, frustrated users quickly filled the comments section with complaints about the outage and urgent requests for help.
Others posted, “I need help from eBay now,” “I need help right now,” and “What’s going on over there ??”
One commenter also replied, “If the site it down, they aren't going to contact you. Just wait about and hour and try again.”
Cyberattack rumors remain unconfirmed
Rumors of a cyberattack also circulated, with unverified claims suggesting that hacktivist group 313 Team was behind a DDoS attack linked to the disruption. However, there has been no official confirmation, and the claim could simply be an opportunistic attribution during a temporary outage, as is common nowadays.
