A high-profile arrest has brought renewed focus to the life of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose remains were discovered in a car linked to singer d4vd. The singer-songwriter, whose legal name is David Burke, known as d4vd, was arrested Thursday, April 16 in connection with her murder, according to NBC Los Angeles, citing law enforcement sources.

The teenager had last been seen alive a year earlier before her decomposed remains were allegedly found in the trunk of the "Romantic Homicide" singer’s abandoned Tesla.

Authorities had identified Burke, 21, as a suspect during the investigation into the death of the Southern California girl. Her remains were discovered on September 8, 2025, inside the trunk of a Tesla registered in his name that had been parked in a Hollywood tow lot.


As per CBS News, citing court records, her body was found “severely decomposed” and “dismembered.”


“Detectives from Los Angeles Police Department, Robbery-Homicide Division have arrested David Burke, a 21-year-old resident of Los Angeles, for the murder of Celeste Rivas," the Los Angeles Police Department announced on X.

“The case will be presented to the District Attorney’s office on Monday for filing consideration,” it continued.

Who was Celeste Rivas Hernandez?

Celeste Rivas Hernandez was the 15-year-old girl from Lake Elsinore, California, whose decomposed remains were found on September 8, 2025, in the trunk of a Tesla owned by singer D4vd (David Anthony Burke)

Rivas was from Lake Elsinore in Riverside County, located roughly 80 miles southeast of where her body was discovered in the Hollywood Hills.

Her remains were discovered on September 8, a day after her birthday, according to Fox 11. Shortly after she was identified, her family launched a GoFundMe titled, "Help Celeste Rivas Hernandez's Family," on September 18 last year.

"She was a beloved daughter, sister, cousin, and friend," her family wrote. "Her family is heartbroken and devastated by this tragic loss."

Celeste Rivas Hernandez reported missing multiple times

In the year before her remains were found, Rivas had been reported multiple times, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office told the Los Angeles Times.

She reportedly ran away from home for the first time on Valentine's Day 2024 and returned a few days later. Her family reported her missing again on March 19, 2024, before she returned. She was reported missing for a final time on April 5, 2024, when she was 13 years old and in seventh grade.

Hernandez's relationship with ‘David’

Before she went missing in April 2024, Rivas was reportedly dating someone named David. Her mother told TMZ that her daughter had a boyfriend named David, though she had not met him.

The tattoo clue

After the body was identified, investigators revealed that Rivas had a tattoo reading "Shhh..." on her right index finger, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Her mother also confirmed to TMZ that her daughter had the phrase tattooed in red ink. Around the same time, fans discovered photos of d4vd with a similar "Shhh" tattoo on his right index finger.
