New details have emerged in the case surrounding Nateal Campbell's death, according to arrest records and police documents. Authorities said officers responded to a home in Atlanta at around 12:30 PM Tuesday after concerns were raised about her wellbeing. Upon arriving at the residence, police found Nateal with a fatal throat injury, while Ciarre was found at the scene in possession of a knife. Investigators said Ciarre was later taken into custody and booked into the Fulton County Jail, where he is being held without bond while facing charges that include murder and aggravated assault.
"We are devastated to share that the Campbell family has lost its matriarch, Mrs. Nateal Campbell," the statement released by the family read. "While the details of her passing are still being investigated, we take comfort in knowing she is reunited with our father, her beloved Chuck, and in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ."
A 911 call released by police captured a family member requesting a welfare check after relatives became concerned while trying to contact Nateal. The caller told dispatchers that family members had been unable to reach her and had become suspicious after receiving conflicting information from their brother, who the caller described as 'mentally ill' and living with their mother. Police records also indicate that officers had previously responded multiple times to the same address over recent months for various incidents and welfare-related concerns.
Calais Campbell is preparing for another chapter in his long NFL journey after agreeing to a one-year deal worth $5.5 million with the Baltimore Ravens earlier this year. Entering his 19th season in the league, Campbell is set to become the oldest active defensive player in the NFL for the 2026 campaign, with his 40th birthday coming on Sept. 1.
Over nearly two decades, Campbell has built an impressive résumé that includes six Pro Bowl selections and first-team Associated Press All-Pro honors in 2017. His professional career began when the Arizona Cardinals selected him in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft.
The former University of Miami standout spent a decade in Arizona before continuing his career with Jacksonville, Atlanta, and Miami. Across 278 career appearances, including 259 starts, Campbell has recorded 117 sacks.
