Burger King revamps Whopper for the first time in nearly 10 years after customer feedback
Burger King is enhancing its iconic Whopper sandwich with upgraded ingredients and new box packaging, marking the first significant change in nearly a decade. These refinements, inspired by customer feedback, aim to elevate the burger's taste and ...

The fast-food chain said the Whopper will now include a “better tasting bun,” be served in a box rather than traditional wrapping, and feature “better tasting mayo.” Burger King also said the sandwich will be topped with freshly sliced onions, ripe tomatoes, crisp lettuce, and tangy pickles, ingredients that are already standard on the Whopper.
The company said the goal was to refine the burger rather than reinvent it. “These updates have refined the Whopper without changing what Guests love most,” the statement reads.
Tom Curtis, president of Burger King, said the changes come after years of operational upgrades across the chain. “Over the past several years, we’ve focused on strengthening our operations and modernizing our restaurants to build a more consistent foundation across the system,” Curtis said in the press statement.
“With that work well underway, we’re now in a position to thoughtfully elevate our core menu. The Whopper is an icon, so we didn’t set out to reinvent it. Instead, we elevated it based on direct guest feedback.”
Burger King said the updates were inspired by customer feedback collected through a recent initiative that invited guests to call or text the company’s president directly.
The announcement comes amid renewed competition in the fast-food burger space. Earlier this week, McDonald's unveiled a new menu item for US locations, the Big Arch Burger, which the company described as its “most McDonald’s, McDonald’s burger yet.” The Big Arch Burger is set to launch on March 3.
