Alabama teen knocks out his father to stop him from strangling his mother during heated argument, here’s what happened

A bizarre incident surfaced in Alabama where a teenager knocked out his father after the accused man allegedly attacked him and his mother, police said. The incident of apparent domestic argument, which escalated into a violent assault, came to light after deputies were called to a home in Foley on Monday (March 9, 2026), where a man had allegedly tried to strangle his wife during an argument, WALA/KOLO8, Fox10, and WBRC reported, citing the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.

The man was identified as Daniel Hernandez-Lopez, 32. He was confronted by his 13-year-old son when he went outside. According to the sheriff's office. The accused allegedly lunged at the boy and tried to hit him with a bicycle, the sheriff's office said.

The teen responded to his father’s actions and allegedly punched him multiple times in the face, knocking him unconscious, the sheriff's office said. The man was apparently highly intoxicated, the sheriff's office alleged.

Hernandez was arrested and charged

The accused was arrested on Tuesday (March 10, 2026) at 1:40 PM and remains in the Baldwin County Jail, according to online jail records. His mugshot shows his eyes, lips, and face bloody and swollen. He is charged with domestic violence strangulation, according to online jail records.

In a separate incident, a woman in New Jersey was chased down by the father of her children after he killed her parents in front of their three kids. The victims of the Berkeley Township, New Jersey, shooting on Tuesday, March 10, have been identified as Allan Russell, 61; Michelle Russell, 60; and their daughter Deonna Stewart, 38, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said in a statement, as reported by PEOPLE. The shooter, identified as 37-year-old Vaughn Stewart, also died from what, according to police, was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
