Stevie Young hospitalised in Buenos Aires ahead of AC/DC’s sold-out shows, expected to perform
Stevie Young has been hospitalised in Buenos Aires after falling ill just days before AC/DC is set to play a series of sold-out concerts in the city, organisers confirmed. The 69-year-old guitarist is undergoing medical tests as a precaution but remains in good spirits and is expected to perform, according to the event’s promoter.

AC/DC is scheduled to perform in the Argentinian capital as part of its Power Up world tour.

AC/DC is a legendary Australian rock band formed in 1973, widely regarded as one of the most influential acts in hard rock and heavy metal. Known for high-voltage performances and iconic tracks, the band has sold hundreds of millions of records worldwide and remains a global touring powerhouse.

According to the Guardian website, after feeling unwell, Stevie Young, nephew of the band’s late founder Malcolm Young, was admitted to a local hospital as a precaution and is undergoing a full series of tests, according to the event’s promoter.

No details have been provided regarding the cause of the 69-year-old Stevie Young’s condition.

“Stevie is doing well and in good spirits,” a spokesperson added. “He is eagerly looking forward to getting on stage on Monday.”

According to the Guardian website, AC/DC is set to play three sold-out concerts at Buenos Aires’ Monumental Stadium, which has a capacity of up to 85,000, on March 23, 27 and 31, after the initial date sold out rapidly, prompting the addition of two more shows.

The band last performed in Argentina in 2009, drawing nearly 200,000 fans to their concerts.

After performing in Santiago, the group arrived Wednesday afternoon at Ezeiza International Airport and is set to continue the tour in Mexico City in early April.

Since 2014, Stevie Young has taken over as the band’s guitarist following his uncle’s departure due to health issues.

The tour takes its name from Power Up, released in 2020 as a tribute to Malcolm Young, who died in 2017 after suffering from dementia.

Formed in Sydney, Australia, in 1973 by Malcolm Young and his younger brother Angus Young, the band has undergone several lineup changes and now includes Brian Johnson (vocals), Angus Young (guitar), Stevie Young (rhythm guitar), Matt Laug (drums) and Chris Chaney (bass).
