Updates on the Iran war against US-Israeli forces
US President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in joint US-Israeli missile strikes, describing the operation, dubbed Operation Epic Fury, as the start of a regime-change campaign against Iran. Later news outlets, including CNN reported citing Iranian state media, that Khamenei was killed. Trump said on Truth Social that senior Iranian leaders had also been eliminated.
Trump said the goal was to allow Iranians to overthrow their leadership, while Netanyahu said strikes had also hit figures linked to Iran’s nuclear program and would continue. Iranian media, cited by The Guardian, reported at least 201 deaths and hundreds injured. Iran has since retaliated with missile and drone attacks on US bases, Israeli targets, and sites in Gulf countries.
