Elon Musk’s recent claim that AI and robotics will eventually make human jobs obsolete, turning work into a voluntary, hobby-like choice, felt closer to reality this week after a manager claimed on Reddit that he already relies on AI to manage workplace politics. Posting in r/OfficePolitics, the user said he routinely uses AI tools to regulate emotions, craft responses, and guide tough decisions, prompting a wider debate: is this the first glimpse of Musk’s AI-shaped future of work, or an early warning about overdependence on algorithms for human judgment?

In his post titled “AI helping me to cope with office politics”, the manager wrote that he frequently turns to AI platforms for advice before responding to sensitive office situations. “I see a lot of politics around me,” he explained, adding that he uses “AI inputs along with my own judgment.” According to him, this method has helped him remain calm and handle conflicts more thoughtfully. However, he expressed uncertainty about how long it will continue to work, admitting he worries he may “lose [his] temper” one day.

Whether AI should be used as an emotional buffer, user asks

The post received a modest but active response, earning several upvotes and prompting a discussion about mental health, emotional regulation, and the increasing reliance on AI tools in the workplace.

One of the commenters, u/mmk_software, responded by asking whether the manager had considered integrating AI more seamlessly into his daily life through wearable AI devices such as “AI pins, earpieces or glasses.” The commenter noted that these emerging technologies could potentially provide real-time guidance during stressful work interactions.

However, the same commenter encouraged the original poster to consider professional help if emotional outbursts were a serious concern. “If losing your temper is legitimately a concern, therapy or psychiatry could help,” the user wrote, clarifying that the suggestion was not meant as an insult but as a sincere recommendation. They added that working with a trained professional might help him “handle more of it yourself without offloading your life to AI.”
