Emma Stone’s Guide To Making Hair Grow-Out Fun: Lessons From The 2026 Golden Globes
Emma Stone transformed her hair growing-out phase into a style statement at the 2026 Golden Globes with a chic bob. After shaving her head for a role, she embraced the regrowth, showcasing how patience and expert styling can make the process enjoy...

Stone first embraced the challenge last year when she debuted a shaved head to prepare for her role as CEO Michelle Fuller in Bugonia. Now, as her hair grows, she’s experimenting with new shapes and textures, guided by longtime hairstylist Mara Roszak.
“The growing-out process has been unexpectedly very fun,” Stone said. “The first three months were the hardest part because I wore a beanie constantly. It was very short and buzzed, and I found it just kind of boring to always be wearing a beanie. But once it got to pixie length, from then on, it’s been a really fun process. You get to try so many different styles.”

Modern, clean, and playful
For the Golden Globes 2026, Stone’s look embraced what Roszak calls a “bob era.” The actor’s chin-skimming lengths were prepped with a smoothing serum and styled with a small round brush to add a gentle bend and shape. “Last year we had this breathtakingly beautiful pixie debut, but this year was about subtle and modern,” Roszak explained. The hairstyle paired seamlessly with Stone’s custom Louis Vuitton dress, reflecting a current red carpet trend toward understated sophistication.Embracing the grow-out
Stone emphasizes patience and adaptability for anyone navigating hair regrowth. “I don’t know if I have any good advice for people growing out their hair, but I would say probably just embrace it,” she said. “Fighting against it or being mad about the length that it’s at is a true waste of time. There’s always something fun you can figure out to do with it.”Experts think that regular trims, even during a grow-out, help maintain shape and prevent damage. Micro-cuts or slight trims every four to six weeks reduce split ends and encourage a cleaner silhouette as hair lengthens. Using accessories like hats can also be a practical styling solution during awkward stages.
The influence of celebrity hair
Stone’s pixie cut has inspired many women nationwide to try shorter hairstyles. Roszak noted, “It’s pretty incredible to get to see a woman so fearless with her hair. Women in many different walks of life, including severe post-partum hair loss and chemo, have come in to get a pixie. It can be so empowering to see a really chic, but also approachable, actress wearing a cut like this on the red carpet.”The subtle art of color
Alongside style, Stone’s color evolution reflects the same philosophy. Celebrity colorist Tracey Cunningham chose a soft auburn shade, slightly darker than her previous copper tones. “I wanted to explore a new color on Emma, but didn’t want to lose the essence of what she’s loved before,” Cunningham said. “I kept it to one slightly darker shade overall, with deeper dimension through the ends for richness and movement. The tone leans more auburn, moving away from the coppery red she’s worn in the past.”Making hair growth manageable
Whether starting from a buzz cut, a pixie, or a bob, experts recommend combining regular trims, protective styling, and patience. Roszak emphasized, “Use Emma as your inspiration. The growing-out process shouldn’t be something that scares you away from getting a haircut you really want to try.”Stone concluded the conversation with her own words: “I highly recommend shaving your head if you’re thinking about it. My goal is to have hair down to my knees by next year.”
Her journey demonstrates that hair growth can be both playful and empowering, a reminder that confidence is the ultimate accessory on any red carpet.
