Sarah Aspin, the former partner of Blake Fielder-Civil and mother of his two children, died in February, with an inquest hearing describing her death as “unnatural,” according to reports by the Daily Mail. Aspin, 47 who had a long-term relationship with Blake Fielder-Civil following his split from singer Amy Winehouse, was found dead at her home in Swillington, near Leeds.

As per The Sun, her body was discovered at a property in the village on Saturday, February 7, and at the time, her death was “treated as unexplained.”

Sarah Aspin’s cause of death: What the inquest revealed

At the inquest hearing, area Coroner Oliver Longstaff told Wakefield Coroner's Court that a toxicology report found Aspin’s body had levels of methadone, dihydrocodeine, and zopiclone in “a combination of concentrations likely to have contributed to her death.”

Sarah’s death was termed as not “natural” due to the large amount of medication in her system, Daily Mail reported.

As per Drugs.com, methadone is used to manage heroin addiction, zopiclone is a sleeping pill, and the other two drugs are powerful painkillers. However, no formal cause of death has been confirmed, and the inquest has been adjourned for further inquiries.

What happened to Sarah Aspin?

Sarah Aspin died on February 7 at her home in Swillington in Leeds. As per the Daily Mail, she was found “unresponsive” at her home in Primrose Hill Drive, Swillington, by her partner, Glen Redhead. Paramedics were called but Aspin was pronounced dead a short time later.

The court also heard that she was single and unemployed at the time of her death.

Who was Sarah Aspin?

Sarah Aspin was known publicly for her relationship with Blake Fielder-Civil, the former husband of Amy Winehouse. She met Fielder-Civil in 2009 in a rehabilitation facility and began dating him in 2011, shortly after his divorce from Winehouse. The couple went on to have two children together before separating around 2018, as per the Daily Mail.

Aspin had also previously confronted Winehouse during their relationship, reportedly telling her, “He is mine and we are a family now,” The Mirror reported.

She lived in Swillington near Leeds, where she was found dead. Following her death, her daughter Melody-Rose paid tribute online, describing her as a “beautiful mother.”
