Naomi Sheehan is mourning the loss of her husband, Michael Patrick, who died at just 35 after battling Motor Neurone Disease. Known off-stage as Michael Campbell, the Game of Thrones actor was diagnosed in 2023 and passed away peacefully at the Northern Ireland Hospice, surrounded by loved ones. Naomi shared the heartbreaking news through a touching tribute in a social media post, remembering her husband as someone who 'lived a life as full as any human can'. Despite his illness, Michael remained committed to his craft and continued working with remarkable determination.

An award-winning talent, who appeared in a season 6 episode of Game of Thrones, Michael earned recognition at the Stage Awards for his adaptation of Shakespeare’s Richard III. Last year, he was also a well-deserved recipient of the Overcoming Adversity award at the Spirit of Northern Ireland Awards, recognizing his resilience and strength.



Naomi’s tribute reflects both profound grief and admiration for his strength and legacy.

"He was admitted 10 days ago and was cared for by the incredible team there," Naomi wrote on Instagram. "He passed peacefully, surrounded by family and friends. Words can’t describe how broken-hearted we are.

"It’s been said more than once that Mick was an inspiration to everyone who was privileged enough to come into contact with him, not just in the past few years during his illness but in every day of his life.

"He lived a life as full as any human can live. Joy, abundance of spirit, infectious laughter. A titan of a ginger-haired man. We are so grateful for every person who supported us through the last few years."

"Mick loved this quote from Brendan Behan, and this feels appropriate now," she said, before quoting: "The most important things to do in the world are to get something to eat, something to drink and somebody to love you."

Beyond Game of Thrones, Michael appeared in several notable projects, including Blue Lights, This Town, and the BBC comedy My Left Nut, which he also co-wrote drawing from his teenage experiences, according to his IMDb profile.

He further showcased his versatility with roles in Blasts from the Past and The Spectacular, among others. His final on-screen appearance came in the 2025 German TV film Mordlichtern: Tod auf den Färöer Inseln, marking the last chapter of his diverse acting career.
