'This is my fiancee': Lil Wayne seemingly announces engagement to 23-year-old Madi Cannon months after breakup

Rapper Lil Wayne seems to have put a ring on it.

In a video message congratulating fellow rapper B.G. on his engagement to Brooke Jones, the 44-year-old singer appears to have announced that he is engaged to Madi Cannon, aged 23. The video has been posted to B.G.'s Instagram account.

'This is my fiancee'

"Congratulations b**ch," Wayne says in the short clip. He then points the camera to Cannon, who stands behind him. "And I’m marrying this one - this is Madison. This is my fiancee," he adds. "And congratulations. Let us know what color we’re wearing. I'm the best man you hear me? Love you bitch." B.G.'s caption on the post read: "My lil Brodie gave me his blessings."

Wayne denied rumors in July

The comment comes months after Lil Wayne had denied a report in July, claiming that he was engaged. "No, I’m not engaged. I had a beautiful thing going on with an amazing person, but, obviously, due to the validity of the temperature of today’s crazy world and culture, I considered, I don’t want to be such a burden on such an amazing person. So, we decided to part. Sucks," he said in a livestream at the time.

Lil Wayne was once married

Lil Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., has been married once before. He had tied the knot with his high school sweetheart, Antonia "Toya” Johnson, in 2004. The two divorced two years later, in 2006. They share a daughter, Reginae, aged 27. Lil Wayne has three other children -- sons Dwayne Carter, 17, Kameron Carter, 17, and Neal Carter, 16 -- with three different women, Sarah Vivan, Lauren London, and Nivea.

Lil Wayne, who began as a child rapper in New Orleans, joined the rap group Hot Boys, alongside Juvenile, B.G., and Turk, in 1997. His solo breakthrough came in 1999 with the superhit album Tha Block Is Hot, which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 rankings.

Wayne has won five Grammy Awards, most of which came from the success of Tha Carter III album, released in 2008. The wins include best rap album for Tha Carter III and best rap song for "Lollipop."
