'The light of our lives': Chad Lowe, Kim Painter's daughter Fiona Lowe dies at 13

Actor Chad Lowe and his producer wife Kim Painter's daughter, Fiona Hepler Lowe, has passed away at the age of 13. "We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona," the family said in a statement to the People magazine on Tuesday (September 29). "She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives."

'Devastating for our family'

The family remembered Fiona as "a loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance," adding: "Her passing is devastating for our entire family, and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time."


The cause of Fiona's death has not been revealed, though the family shared a suicide prevention helpline in the statement. "If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, please reach out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988."

Lowe, aged 58, and Painter, 52, had welcomed Fiona -- their second child -- on November 16, 2012. The couple, who were married in 2010, share two other daughters -- Mabel Painter Lowe, 17, and 10-year-old Nixie Barbara Lowe.

On her 13th birthday in November last year, Chad had shared a picture of Fiona on Instagram, writing: "Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!! Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!"

Family lost home in wildfire

Fiona’s birthday came after the family shared they had lost their home in the Pacific Palisades Fire in early 2025. "Almost a month after we evacuated our girls finally got to go back to see what’s left of their home,” Chad wrote in an Instagram post at the time. “The way they’ve handled this whole devastating experience is nothing short of remarkable. I am in awe of their spirit and resilience. Helping them navigate these tough times is my sole purpose. Being their dad is my life’s greatest joy and privilege," he added.

Chad Lowe -- the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe -- is best known for this Emmy-winning role as Jesse McKenna on the comedy drama series Life Goes On (1989-1993). He has appeared in several other projects, including Pretty Little Liars, Melrose Place, 24, Supergirl and 9-1-1: Lone Star. His wife Painter is a film and television producer.
