After months of anticipation, one of the standout sports manga from the past few years is finally returning to print. The Days of Diamond (Daiyamondo no Kōzai), is scheduled to resume publication in Weekly Young Jump on June 4, 2026, marking the end of its recent hiatus.

The Days of Diamond is a baseball-themed coming-of-age sports manga written and illustrated by Ōhashi Hirai, which began serialization in The Days of Diamond Weekly Young Jump in February 2023.

The narrative centers on Jiro Ayasegawa, a gifted fifth-grader whose struggles with fitting in as an athlete lead him to join a little league baseball team, the Adachi Bambies, in the hopes of finding friendship and belonging through sport. While his talent is undeniable, his exceptional ability also isolates him, raising difficult questions about competition, identity, and teamwork.

Published by Shueisha under the Young Jump Comics imprint, the manga has been concurrently released on Shueisha’s Manga Plus platform in English, helping it garner a growing international audience alongside its domestic fanbase in Japan.

Hiatus and resumption: What happened

Like many serialized manga, The Days of Diamond has experienced publishing breaks, with its most recent hiatus beginning earlier this year. Reports from late January 2026 indicated that the series had gone on an indefinite pause.

Now, according to Anime News Network, the series will return to Weekly Young Jump starting June 4, 2026.

The series had only just come back from a prior break on September 18.

Earlier, the manga entered hiatus on September 5, 2024, as Hirai focused on preparing the seventh compiled volume for release. It was initially scheduled to resume serialization on October 3, 2024, but the return was later postponed to October 31, 2024.

Before that, the manga had also paused in August 2024 for personal reasons related to Hirai, before resuming toward the end of the same month.

The resumption is significant for fans because it means much-anticipated chapters will finally be released after a multi-month pause, allowing the narrative momentum and character arcs to progress once more.

Serialized weekly in one of Japan’s most respected seinen manga magazines, its return is widely viewed as a boost for Weekly Young Jump’s lineup as competition in the serialized manga space continues to grow.
