Stranger Things Season 5: How long will the sci-fi series finale be, and what can fans expect as the Netflix series comes to end?

The second volume of ‘Stranger Things season 5’ was released on December 25, 2025 (Thursday). The first four episodes of the current season of the sci-fi series were released on November 26, 2025. The second volume has three episodes, and the series finale will be out on New Year’s Eve (December 31, 2025) at around 5:00 p.m. PST, marking an end to the show.

“Stranger Things” co-creator Ross Duffer revealed the runtimes for the final four episodes of the series. Episode 5, titled “Shock Jock,” is one hour and eight minutes long, and Episode 6, “Escape from Camazotz,” will run for one hour and 15 minutes, according to Duffer’s Instagram post. Episode 7, titled “The Bridge,” goes back down to one hour and six minutes.

The finale of the Netflix sci-fi hit is Episode 8, “The Rightside Up,” which is the longest episode of the season at two hours and eight minutes.

The end of Stranger Things 5 Volume 2 shows that the group cleared a small but important hurdle in their last stand against Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower). They go past the heavily guarded MAC-Z gate with the whole party intact, according to Netflix.

The victory, however, did not last long, as Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) feels uneasy about the sacrifice her sister, Kali (Linnea Berthelsen), has asked her to make.

“At the end of [Episode 7], there’s a sense of dread or uncertainty that pervades,” series co-creator Ross Duffer says, as quoted by Netflix. “There’s a look and a moment between [Eleven] and Kali where it seems as though Eleven has agreed to Kali’s plan to stay in the Upside Down when it explodes. So, even if they are to succeed, there’s a big question mark in terms of what’s going to happen to Eleven,” he added.
