The mayor of Rio de Janeiro has barred singer Chappell Roan from performing at one of the city’s largest music events after the singer’s security reportedly aggressively confronted the family of Brazilian soccer player Jorginho Frello. The incident involved his wife, Catherine Harding, and her daughter, Ada Law, whom she shares with actor Jude Law.

In a lengthy Instagram Stories post, the ex-Arsenal star claimed that a security guard working with Chappell Roan confronted his wife and child in an "extremely aggressive" manner and alleges harassment. Jorginho did not name the child in that post, but as per People, he was referring to his stepdaughter Ada.

Following this incident, the mayor of Rio, Eduardo Cavaliere, announced on X that the pop star will never perform at Todo Mundo no Rio while he is in office and extended an invitation to Jorginho’s daughter to attend the upcoming edition as an honored guest.

“I mean that as long as I’m in charge of our city, this young lady @ChappellRoan will never perform at Todo Mundo no Rio!” Cavaliere, the youngest mayor in the history of Rio de Janeiro, wrote. “I doubt that Shakira would do that! By the way, @FrelloJorginho your little one is already the guest of honor of the organization in May!”

Jorginho, who now plays for Brazilian club Flamengo, delighted with the invitation, responded to the post with two heart emojis.

Todo Mundo no Rio, which means “Everyone in Rio,” is a series of free international music events held on Copacabana Beach every May. According to Men's Journal, the festival boosts the city’s economy and tourism and is funded jointly by the City Hall of Rio de Janeiro and private sponsors. Madonna headlined the inaugural edition in 2024, followed by Lady Gaga in 2025, while Shakira is set to headline the next edition, scheduled for the first Saturday of May.
