American pop icon Pink has shut down reports claiming she has separated from her husband, Carey Hart, calling the coverage “fake news” and urging media outlets to “do better.” The singer addressed the rumors in a selfie video posted on Instagram on February 26, where she denied the claims and criticized outlets that reported the alleged split. In the caption, she wrote, “Like I always say. If you don’t hear it from me, don’t believe the hype. Stay tuned though! Who knows what could happen next!?!”

In the video, Pink said she had only just learned about the supposed separation through media reports. “So I was just alerted to the fact that I’m separated from my husband,” she said. “I didn’t know. Thank you for letting me know. Would you also like to tell our children? My 14- and 9-year-old are also unaware.”

She went on to question the priorities of those spreading the claims, adding, “Or do you want to talk about some real news?” Pink suggested that issues such as the Epstein files, systemic racism, or misogyny in sports deserved more attention than what she described as unfounded gossip. ‘Do you want to talk about the Epstein files?’ her statement reads.

The singer also took aim at the tone of the coverage, saying, “Do you want to talk about my accomplishments or do you only want to talk about my supposed demise? So fake news, not true. I love you all.” She concluded the video by telling “trash news” to “do better.”

Pink, whose real name is Alecia Moore, met Hart at the 2001 X Games in Philadelphia. The couple dated on and off before Hart proposed in 2005. After a brief split, they married in Costa Rica in January 2006.

While the pair has experienced public breakups in the past, once in 2003 and again in 2008, they later reconciled and have remained together since.

Despite their hiccups, relations between the couple remained cordial. Hart even appeared in the music video for the Grammy winner’s hit single “So What,” a song and video inspired by their divorce. The following year, in the spring of 2009, the pair announced that they had reconciled and were calling off the divorce.
