Owen Cooper has etched his name in history after he won the Golden Globe Award for his role in the Netflix limited series 'Adolescence.' The 16-year-old actor became the youngest ever to win the award in the category of Best Supporting Actor in a TV Series. The awards were held at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.

“Standing here at the Golden Globes does not feel real whatsoever,” Cooper said in his acceptance speech on Sunday night, as quoted by The Hollywood Reporter. “What an incredible journey me and my family have been through. We are forever grateful for what these people have done for me and my family,” he added.

With the Golden Globe award in the bag, he has also become the youngest male actor ever to win a Golden Globe, an Emmy Award, and a Critics' Choice Award in a back-to-back sweep.


Earlier in January 2026, Cooper won the Critics' Choice Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television for Adolescence. In 2025, he also made history at the Emmy Awards after he bagged the award for supporting actor in a limited or anthology series. He became the youngest male actor to win an acting award.

In the Netflix series 'Adolescence,' Owen plays the character of Jamie Miller, a 13-year-old schoolboy who is arrested in a murder case. The series also stars Stephen Graham as Jamie's father, Christine Tremarco as his mother, and Amelie Pease as his sister. According to reports, the show garnered more than 141 million views in its first three months.
