The night of the 83rd Golden Globe Awards at the Beverly Hilton, Beverly Hills, in California, which honored the best in film and television of the past 12 months, was also marked by protests against the killing of Renee Good and Keith Porter by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers. During the award night on Sunday (January 11, 2026), celebrities, including award-winning actor Mark Ruffalo, were seen raising their voices against the fatal ICE shootings.

Some celebrities donned anti-ICE pins at the Golden Globes in tribute to Good, who was shot and killed in her car by an ICE officer, Jonathan Ross, this week in Minneapolis. The other victim, Porter, was a Los Angeles man shot and killed by an off-duty ICE agent on New Year's Eve. The black-and-white pins displayed slogans like “BE GOOD” and “ICE OUT.”

Mark Ruffalo, Wanda Sykes, and Natasha Lyonne wore the pins on the red carpet, while Jean Smart and Ariana Grande donned them once inside the ballroom, according to news agency AP. Smart had the pin on her dress as she accepted the award for best performance by a female actor in a musical or comedy series.

Ruffalo calls out Trump

Ruffalo slammed US President Donald Trump over Good’s killing, dubbing him the “worst human being.” He also raised concerns against US strikes on Venezuela. "This is for Renee Nicole Goode, who was murdered," Ruffalo tells USA TODAY on the red carpet.

The 'Task' actor called out Trump, saying, "We're in the middle of a war with Venezuela that we illegally invaded. He's telling the world that international law doesn't matter to him. The only thing that matters to him is his own morality, but the guy is a convicted felon, a convicted rapist.” "He's a pedophile," Ruffalo continued.

"He's the worst human being. If we're relying on this guy's morality for the most powerful country in the world, then we're all in a lot of trouble. " So this is for her," Ruffalo concluded. The Golden Globes red-carpet protest came after about 1,000 events throughout the country as part of the ICE Out For Good movement by the American Civil Liberties Union.
