Lane Kiffin’s ex-wife Layla, who still has access to his bank account, sent a message to fans before LSU-Ole Miss showdown

As Ole Miss and LSU faced off in one of the most closely watched college football games of the weekend, attention around Oxford, Mississippi, extended beyond the field. The matchup brought Lane Kiffin back into the spotlight, while his former wife, Layla Kiffin, appeared to have a message of her own before kickoff.

The No. 8 LSU Tigers entered Vaught-Hemingway Stadium to face the No. 9 Ole Miss Rebels in a game surrounded by heightened emotions. The rivalry had gained additional attention after Kiffin turned down Ole Miss during last season's College Football Playoff, fueling weeks of trash talk ahead of Saturday night's game.

Some of that commentary, however, moved beyond football and targeted Kiffin's family. His daughter, Landry Kiffin, recently spoke out about inappropriate jokes circulating on social media and around Oxford.

Amid the controversy, Layla Kiffin appeared to offer a brief but pointed response on social media. Wearing a shirt that read, "Not my first rodeo," she captioned her post, "Be nice, it's so much easier:)."

Layla did not directly reference LSU, Ole Miss or the controversy surrounding her daughter. However, the timing of the post came shortly before kickoff and after Landry publicly addressed the jokes directed at her.

"I usually don't respond to any hateful posts around game days, but this one actually hurts," she said in a TikTok video.

"I opened my phone this morning to pictures of banners on houses around Oxford posted on different accounts saying really inappropriate things about me. I think that turning a girl into the punchline of a sexual joke because you're upset at somebody she's related to should not be okay."

Lane and Layla Kiffin's relationship has remained a talking point

The attention surrounding Layla comes as fans have continued to speculate about her relationship with Lane Kiffin. The former couple divorced in 2016, but their interactions in recent years have prompted questions about whether they have become close again.

Social media posts featuring the two together and appearances at events, including NBA games, have contributed to the speculation. Lane, however, has generally remained coy when discussing the nature of their relationship.

During the offseason, Lane revealed that Layla still had access to his bank account despite their divorce. The remark came in response to a question from Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy.

“My ex-wife still has access to my bank account,” Lane posted in a May 10 graphic on Instagram. “Who in the world deserves it more.

“…She put up with me and (is an) awesome mother to my three children. Why wouldn’t I share it with her???”

The comment quickly drew attention because of the unusual financial arrangement and Lane's public praise for Layla as the mother of their three children.

For now, neither Lane nor Layla has publicly confirmed that they have reconciled romantically. But their continued appearances together, Lane's comments about Layla and her latest social media post have kept public interest in their relationship alive.
