As the music world gathered for the 68th Annual Grammy Awards on February 1, 2026, Kelly Osbourne delivered one of the most heartfelt and candid reflections of the night, not on music, but on grief, loss, and memory following the death of her father, rock legend Ozzy Osbourne. In interviews on the red carpet and with the press, Kelly spoke openly about how she has been coping in the months since her father’s passing, calling the experience “the hardest thing I’ve ever been through.”

On the Grammy red carpet, Kelly was candid about the toll her father’s death has taken on her emotional well-being. When asked how she’s doing, she said, “I won’t lie… I’m not doing so great.” She described the loss as “the hardest thing I’ve ever been through in my life,” and acknowledged that the night’s tribute would be incredibly moving for her and her family.

Kelly emphasized that being surrounded by Ozzy’s peers and seeing the love and respect shown by the music community meant more than she could put into words. She said she was at the Grammys to support her mother, adding that “it’s just as much about her as well.”

In a separate interview before the event, Kelly shared personal ways she continues to keep her father’s memory alive, such as lighting a candle daily, wearing a locket with his photo, and recognizing small spiritual signs, like seeing 11:11 on clocks.

Ozzy Osbourne, the iconic frontman of Black Sabbath and a Grammy-winning solo artist, died on July 22, 2025, at age 76 after a lengthy battle with health issues including Parkinson’s disease.

His immense influence on rock and metal music was celebrated at the 2026 Grammys with a special tribute performance featuring artists such as Post Malone, Andrew Watt, Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Slash and Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses.

The tribute was both a celebration of Ozzy’s storied career and a deeply emotional moment for his family. Kelly attended the ceremony alongside her mother Sharon Osbourne, her brother Jack Osbourne, her fiancé Sid Wilson, and their young child.

Kelly’s openness about her grief also touched on the challenges of mourning in the public eye. After Ozzy’s death, she addressed online critics about her weight loss, directly linking the change to her emotional distress and family focus, calling out body-shaming responses as insensitive amid her loss.
