Alford, the 54-year-old British star who appeared in “Grange Hill” and “London's Burning," whose real name was John Shannon, was sentenced to eight-and-a-half years in jail after he was found guilty of sexually assaulting the two teenagers, who were 15 and 14, BBC reported.
Alford of Holloway, north London, who was born in Glasgow, Scotland, stood trial at St. Albans Crown Court under his real name in September 2025.

In 2024, Alford was charged with sex offenses connected to teenage girls. He was accused of assaulting a 15-year-old and a 14-year-old in 2022. He was convicted in September 2025. The 14-year-old reportedly told the court that Alford raped her in two different locations at a friend's house in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire after drinking vodka with him. He was found guilty on four counts of sexual activity with the younger girl, and of sexual assault and assault by penetration on the older teenager.
In January 2026, a judge sentenced Alford to eight years and six months in prison. He was jailed on January 14, 2026. The actor gained recognition in the 1980s and 1990s through the British TV shows "Grange Hill" and "London's Burning."
