The internet went into full meltdown mode after a wild viral claim suggested Jacob Elordi had been deported from the United States, sending fans into a frenzy of hilarious, thirst-filled reactions just hours after his swoon-worthy Oscars appearance with his mom.

The Euphoria and Wuthering Heights star, 28, had attended the 2026 Oscars at the Dolby Theatre alongside his mother, Melissa, turning heads on the red carpet. While Elordi looked sharp in a black tuxedo and bow tie, it was his mother who drew attention in a sparkling ballgown.

Elordi had previously revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that he had long promised to take his mother to the Oscars. “I’m going to take my mum [to the Oscars]. I promised her when I was 15 that I would take her. So, I have to honour that,” he said.

After the event concluded, a claim began circulating online that Elordi had been deported back to Australia over alleged visa issues. The rumor originated from a post by a sarcastic Instagram account, which alleged that the actor had been detained and sent back due to problems with his visa status.

For context, there are no credible reports to support the claim. Despite past visa-related issues, there is no confirmation in any reporting from any major US news outlets that Elordi is currently facing any such problems following his Oscars appearance.

The Jacob Elordi deportation news quickly triggered a flurry of reactions from fans, many of whom responded with humor and disbelief. “I volunteer as tribute to make him an American ,” one user wrote.

“Deported to my bedroom,” another commented in a post that garnered over 30,000 likes.

“It’s ok baby marry me & I’ll make u a citizen,” another fan joked. “Maybe he could marry Svetlana?” wondered another comment.

While the deportation claim appears to have stemmed from satire, the online frenzy highlights how quickly misinformation, even in jest, can gain traction, especially when it involves high-profile celebrities.
