Teyana Taylor says she may be trying not to get ahead of herself before the 2026 Oscars, but the singer-turned-actor admits she is quietly preparing a possible acceptance speech, just in case her name is called on Hollywood’s biggest night.

The 98th Academy Awards, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on March 15, 2026. The ceremony will honor films released in 2025 across 24 categories.

According to the TMZ website, speaking at a pre-Oscars party at the celebrity hotspot Mr. Chow in Los Angeles on Thursday(March 12), Taylor said the possibility of winning the Best Supporting Actress award has made her both excited and nervous.

Who is Teyana Taylor?

Teyana Taylor is an American singer, actress, dancer, choreographer and creative director who rose to prominence after being discovered by Pharrell Williams as a teenager and later signing with GOOD Music. Born on December 10, 1990, in New York City, she first gained wide attention for her appearance in Kanye West’s 2016 music video for the song Fade, which showcased her dance performance and helped elevate her profile in entertainment.

Taylor has released several albums blending R&B, hip-hop and soul, while also building a parallel career in film and television, earning critical praise for acting roles and expanding into directing music videos and fashion projects.

According to Capital XTRA website, her networth stands at around $5 million.

She joked that she has been drafting a speech “just in case” she takes home the trophy for her performance in One Battle After Another. During the lighthearted exchange, Taylor even gave a humorous impression of what it might look like if she stepped onto the stage unprepared, drawing laughs from those around her.

Taylor has emerged as one of the leading contenders in the category after already winning a Golden Globe earlier this year for her role as Perfidia Beverly Hills in the Paul Thomas Anderson film.

The performance has been widely praised and marks a major milestone in her transition from music star to serious film actor, following her acclaimed work in A Thousand and One.

Despite the early awards momentum, the Oscar race remains competitive. Taylor faces strong contenders, including Amy Madigan, Wunmi Mosaku, Elle Fanning and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas in the Best Supporting Actress category.
