Best known for her role in the final season of Nickelodeon’s All That in 2005, was hit by a black Ford SUV around 6:50 am while crossing the intersection of Watkins Street and Pitkin Avenue in Brooklyn’s Brownsville neighborhood, sources said.
Law enforcement told TMZ that Underwood suffered severe head and torso trauma after being struck by a westbound vehicle at Pitkin Avenue and Mother Gaston Boulevard.
According to New York Post website, footage shows the westbound vehicle on Pitkin Avenue dragging Underwood before her body was ejected, police said. The driver fled the scene while Underwood lay motionless in the street.
Investigators said Underwood had reportedly exited a bodega and crossed against the light, and sources added that the driver may not have seen her in the roadway.
According to TMZ sources, the NYPD received a 911 call around 6:49 am, and EMS pronounced Underwood dead upon arrival at the scene. Authorities have not made any arrests at this time.
Underwood also appeared as Tanessha Labelle in The 24 Hour Woman (1999), had a minor role in Death of a Dynasty (2003), and spent a year on stage as Little Inez in the national tour of Hairspray, according to IMDb.
Born in New York City, Underwood later relocated to Los Angeles, according to the New York Post website.
